Solve : DSO Exploit?

Answer»

I have a DSO exploit and cant get rid of it.

I have run Spybot, Adaware and Iolo. All 3 detect the DSO and all 3 say they removed it.   But its still on my system.

Its making my system run slow and sluggish

Any ideas please ?

(IE 6.0, P4, 1 GIG of RAM, Cable modem)What would DSO stand for?

If you know it is a security hole, why not patch it?If I knew how to patch it, I wouldnt post this question for help.

DSO exploit is a vulnerability in IE that can allow malware to be run on your COMPUTER. IF IE is patched and up-to-date it is not a problem. There are two ways to rid the report. One is note the registry entries displayed by Spybot and use Regedit to navigate to the entries and delete them. If your IE is properly patched do the following:

1 Open Spybot and select 'advanced' mode
2 Select 'settings' in the left column
3 Select 'ignore products' in the left column
4 Select 'security' tab
5 Place a check mark in the box(s) beside DSO Exploit
6 Exit Spybot
7 Restart Spybot and run a scan.Hwy420.....You might give this a try , it should do it as well .
Have "Search & Destroy" look for problems the usual way and then (1) highlight one of the "Data source object exploit" items, (2) Right CLICK the highlighted item to bring up the menu list and select "More details", (3) Now click "Jump to location", (4) You are now viewing the Registry and can use the path shown in the Search & Destroy window to get to the key shown, (5) I manually deleted each of 5 keys and no longer have it coming BACK.  I haven't noticed any change in performance so I trust that I did no HARM but I am happy not to have the d**NED thing any more.

Hope this helps
