Solve : email websites, aim 6.0 (and up), and other sites won't work, but internet does?

so yeah, aol.com, yahoo.com, i can see them, but when i log in and enter my password and click login, it takes me to search page as if i WENT to aol.com, went to search, and typed in the exact homepage url in the search box. i know, it's weird. basically, email and AIM won't work. i think it is some type of connection problem, becasue that is what AIM says, but AIM 5.9 works, so i dunno.. help if you understand my problem. if you don't understand, please ASK for clarification because i dunno what to do!help help help!
