Answer» Hi ,
In a few days i will buy another new laptop , and i want to move all the stuff from this laptop to the new one.
I was wondering if it is possible to move also automatically, something like a backup, all the stuff from this browser to the new freshly installed browser from the next laptop which i will buy. I KNOW that it may sound crazy but i got here a lot of bookmarks , usernames and passwords stored, a lot of cookies and also another useful things stored in browser history and seasons, plugins and other stuffs.
It will be a pain for me to move all this by hand to the new browser from the next laptop, and for sure i will forget something . This old laptop will be formatted and then resold, so all what is related to the current browser will be lost, and i used it in the LAST 3, 4 years so there are a lot of things here.
I am using Firefox, now i updated it to last version 12.0 and i was wondering i this is possible, it would be very nice if there is a way for this.
I do not know a way for this but may be there is something and i do not know.
Please advice me about this.
Thanks ! You need to qualify exactly what it is you want to be moved to the new PC... If it's only browser settings then it's real simple... More info...I want especially to move the bookmarks and the cookies from this pc, so that i will be able to login on all sites on which i created an account until now. See Backing up your [Firefox] information. Basically, you need to locate your Firefox Profile and transfer it to the new computer. You could also use MozBack...Free.For the bookmarks, you could just use Firefox's online sync function, which will keep your bookmarks synced on any number of Firefox browsers (INCLUDING mobile versions, such as Firefox for ANDROID) without having to copy or bookmark them again. As to the rest of the question... he said: Quote ...move all the stuff from... You can ALWAYS move all stuff from something. Getting it to work is a whole issue by itself.
This is by design. MS and most software vendors do not want portable software installations of Windows Desktop computers. The software is licensed for use on one one computer. Only a few companies have a provision for really moving a software program from one computer to another. They make more money by selling you either a new software package or a license to copy the current software to another computer. They don't make any money letting you have a free copy.
FireFox is exceptional.Thank you guys for posting and giving me a solution for this.
