Answer» My graphics for FEAR run really choppy, I have a fairly good PC, can someone help me? My graphics for FEAR run really choppy, I have a fairly good PC, can someone help me? Im very sorry, but ur PC is in NO shape to play F.E.A.R. F.E.A.R. is one of the most demanding games out there, and there is no chance u can play it with a 3 year old low-end graphics card. You can run the game, almost well under the lowest setting possible. Im not sure what u mean "choppy" but im pretty sure u mean that it runs slow, wich is the frame rate. Your graphics card cannot handle F.E.A.R. at more then 25 FPS, even on medium settings, wich means u cannot play it. Your RAM should be less concerning to u. What u must do in order to play F.E.A.R. is buy a new graphics card, wich wont be easy since u have an AGP slot and not a PCI-Express. Best chance is to buy the X800XT for ur current PC, or buy a new motherboard (wich will require a new CPU) and get a PCI-E graphics card that will let u play F.E.A.R. on MAX. You wont believe how amazing that will be. You may also need at least another 256Mb of RAM to do this, but that isnt too expensive, unless u have a too little ammount of slots and have to replace certain sticks, wich would be more expensive.Like I said if there is frequent harddisk usage in game (and there's NOTHING in the background like virus scanner that could be causing it) then this means Windows is making heavy usage of the paging file = lack of ram. Buying a new graphics card but not more ram will probably just mean your game will be choppy, but look better. More ram and same graphics card will mean it will be smoother, just not look as good. Of course more ram and new graphics card would give best boost. But before the poster comes back and replies, there is not really much else we can do. Track... you might have more experiance with good computers but I have more with not so good ones. I would rather play a smoother but poor looking game. When Windows accesses the paging file due to low ram, it causes choppiness regardless of the current frames per second being churned out by the graphics card. When Windows accesses the paging file due to low ram, it causes choppiness regardless of the current frames per second being churned out by the graphics card. I have played F.E.A.R. using 512Mb and 1024Mb of RAM. There is some difference, but unless ur using MAX detail 768Mb of RAM should be good enough to play this game on Minimum. I know for a fact that F.E.A.R. plays well on 1024Mb and an increase of 256Mb isnt going to make the game less "choppy". Im not sure what hes talking abt, but there is NO chance in heck that someone can play F.E.A.R. on an FX 5600. I have an FX 5200 and i can barely get it to work on minimum on 320x240 and DX8 shadows. So i must stress that getting a new graphics card is a far bigger priority then getting another 256Mb of RAM. I mean, u can just load F.E.A.R. and close any other running procesess, that should give u more then 150Mb extra.I have never played that game itself so I don't know the specifics, but like I always say, if there is frequent harddisk activity during a game, lack of ram is the problem. If there isn't frequent harddisk activity during a game, then ram is unlikely to be a problem. I know some games are ram hungry, some are more graphics card hungry. I was just giving general advice.I run FEAR with a gig of ram on max settings just fine. Definitly need to find a way to upgrade that card! Oh and if you want something to measure your frames per second do a search for "fraps". Its free and good.remind me to never argue with Track ~ Neil, u got patience man!! Quote My graphics for FEAR run really choppy, I have a fairly good PC, can someone help me? I would reccomend getting 2 GB of ram and also upgrading your GFX card to at least a 6800. Although I would suggest 7600 GS. (Based on your current card I think youve got AGP.)The original poster is long gone.okay, the point of your post?
