Solve : Firefox will not load NBC Olympics videos?

Answer»

If this has been asked before, I'm sorry.  I looked but couldn't find a thread about it.

I use MOZILLA Firefox as my primary browser (I'm running MS XP sp2).  I like it much BETTER than IE and find that it runs just about everything faster and better.  The only problem I have encountered is that I can't get the NBC Olympics videos to load.  It just sits and sits and sits, saying it's loading but nothing ever happens.

IE will load the same videos in just a few seconds.

Videos on all others sites have played perfectly for me.

Any ideas?  Thanks.Link, please...some websites/videos/whatevers, do not support firefox... so this may be a possibility.. if it works on IE, i really dont see the big deal. but if you feel uncomfortable using IE, then i THINK posting a link would help alot. Quote

This is rubbish....
I've been using FireFox since it was new and Netscape prior to that and never encountered a page that would not load.
This may have been an issue some 10 years ago but not now... Quote

Ditto. From what I heard the NBC Olympic site was built on Silverlight technology from Microsoft. It's a plugin for IE. I am having trouble with these Vids as well,It is giving me the option to get this Silverlight plug-in,but uhh I have had firefox for all of 4 hours and do not know much about firefox yet.
Heres the link

I clicked on the first Vid with Torres.tina1rules
Please, START a new topic.Just checked it and suprisingly in the fine print it's XP and Vista only...has nothing to do with Firefox as it lists all versions back to 1.5....

Will not load on my Win2K beast so this may be the issue.

Why they would do this is beyond logic...The videos don't play in Firefox on Linux either.  The video window says:

Video is currently supported on the following browsers:
  • Internet Explorer 6, 7 for Windows (Vista, XP SP2 or greater and 2003)
  • Firefox 1.5, 2, 3 for Windows (Vista, XP SP2 or greater and 2003)
  • Firefox 1.5, 2, 3 for Mac (OS10.4.8 or greater, Intel only)
  • Safari 2 & 3 for Mac (OS10.4.8 or greater, Intel only)

Of course, Microsoft is very prejudice against and fearful of Linux, so it makes sense that they would invent proprietary technology (Silverlight) to TRY to shut it out.  But the Moonlight will hopefully fill in the gap eventually. This is ridiculous...
