Solve : Getting Browser Working on Old Computer? |
|
Answer» I have a Dell DU7670 running on Windows XP 2002 that I'm trying to get on the internet. I was GOING to use IE in order to DOWNLOAD Chrome, but IE is displaying the "cannot display the webpage" error. I used the diagnostic and it said there was a problem with the Winsock provider catalog, and it could be reset to the default configuration. I said yes to this and the computer restarted and when I tried IE again I got the same error and the same diagnostic. When I try to run ipconfig the box pops up for a SECOND and then disappears. Can anyone help me, please? Thanks!Which version of Windows XP do you have? Thanks! Do you know how I get get it on there without internet access?Use a computer that has internet access to download the installer to a USB thumb drive, then plug the thumb drive into the XP machine and run the installer.Except many XP machines lacked USB support...DU7670 is a Dimension 4700, so it has USB Ports.Thanx for the heads up... Quote from: patio on April 10, 2019, 07:47:56 AM Except many XP machines lacked USB support...In my experience, by the time XP came around, USB was pretty commonplace. I'm sure some XP machines didn't have it but I believe most did. Thanks to BC_Programmer for the info regarding the OP's machine. |
