Solve : Glest - Warcraft-like game?

Answer»

Yes, it's another game like some other game! Glest is a multi-platform freeware open-source game engine that is kinda like Warcraft, has a big community, online play, and many mods. Website is here: http://www.glest.org/en/ Cool mod with great webpage design: http://nihilirian.com/. Be warned that it might run slow on some systems because of the level of graphics, and the download size is big. Go ahead and try it if you have a good computer and good connection. If you don't, try SOLDAT: http://soldat.pl/. Best free game on the web! 2d shooter with sweet weapons, online play, good community, and lots of awesome modes and maps. If you really have low requirements, try SOLITUDE: http://www.geocities.com/dbergis/freeware.htm. Cool freeware solitare suite. "Golf" is my favorite new find, after Four Kingdoms. I could play Four Kingdoms for hours, and have on occasion. Or, you could wait for my list of the best freeware games that will include some games with low requirements. Currently it has over 100 entries, and they're all very good and completely free! Anyone interested?No-one interested huh? I feel so dejected and alone in the world . I think I'll go strangle myself with my mouse cable. Oh wait, I have a wireless mouse. Now I really feel bad .I'm interested. I'm trying them out now.WOAH WOAH!! a must trySo are you interested in the list? If not, it won't hurt my feelings. I'll be just fine. im interested.Yay, my life has meaning again! It might take a while, as I'm going to include links to every game. I was thinking of doing a mini review of every one, unless you think a link to a review would be sufficient. That would take much less time. My list has at least 115 entries now, but only on notes in pencil. I have to put it on the computer, and I'm lazy, so I'm gonna need motivation. Like gifts of money, or computer hardware. Well keep giving us free games and other freeware. They're not my games, but I can give you the knowledge I have acquired through years of observing the freeware scene. Here is the 2d Shooter section of the list as a teaser:

2d Shooting

fRaBs (Free Abuse) - http://abuse-game.com/index.php
http://www.acid-play.com/download/abuse/

Abuse was a commercial game, and a few nice people have remade it using completely free material. Gamers Rejoice! Good storyline and gameplay. This is good whether you have played the original before or not.

Crimelife - http://www.yoyogames.com/games/show/15689

Pretty good remake of GTA1. Loads of vehicles, including a tank and an rc car! Check out the 3d sequel in FPS section below.

Friendly Strike 2 - http://www.caiman.us/scripts/fw/f1237.html

Don't worry, the name is SARCASM. You can still kill people. Cool game with many weapons. Is there a Friendly Strike 1? Does the author have a home page? I dunno.

Gusanos - http://sourceforge.net/projects/gusanos

Liero clone. Nice weapons, you can dig through the earth, and has multiplayer on the same computer. My favorite feature is the grappling hook.

Madness Interactive - http://flecko.net/games.html

This game is hard. I'm not the best gamer, but this game is hard. That being said, its also freaking fun! Cool weapons, powerups, and unique gameplay. Weapons like throwing knives, miniguns, shotguns, and urinals? Powerups like faster movement, extended clips, and more bullet time. An integral part of the gameplay is using your current weapon to bash your enemy's brains out. Trust me, you'll want to keep trying to conquer it. Note: Apparently there are mods, but I haven't tried any yet. Please report back if you try some.

Soldat - http://www.soldat.pl/

One of the best free games on the net, hands-down, no bull. Cool weapons, lots of maps and modes. Online play, which would be awesome except my PC has no internet connection. However, those with one should find it enjoyable. Just to clarify, there is no need to register Soldat. However, it does add some cool features, outlined here: http://static.soldat.pl/man/register-en.html Just try it. Now.

Stick Soldiers Series - http://www.andrewrussellstudios.com/wsu/

Two games with black and white stick figures. SS1 was the original, still pwns many other games. SS2 is easier to mod, therefore there are LOTS of maps, mods, and guns. Some are good, some are bad. Small downloads, good for slow connections. Also, download some guides and try modding it yourself. Definitely worth trying.

I'm also thinking of adding ratings.Oh, btw, when it says to try the 3D sequel to Crimelife in FPS section, it refers to a section I have not posted. Here is review of Crimelife 2:

Crimelife 2 - http://www.yoyogames.com/games/show/14296

Sequel to Crimelife 1, with first-person perspective. Kill people with vehicles and guns. I personally think the FPS perspective makes it better than its predecessor. And you'll have plenty of fun with uzis, helicopters, and bazookas. Too bad the tank from the first game didn't carry over. The game will get boring after a while though, therefore I eagerly await the arrival of Crimelife 3. You can test a beta version here: http://gmc.yoyogames.com/index.php?showtopic=393243. I have not been able to try it yet, so report back if you do. 7/10

As you can see, I have added ratings. I worked a while on it last NIGHT. On the edge of your seats? No, I didn't think so.Woah dude you amaze me with all this freeware.

Please let me make you a sig banner.

Also thanks for crime life 2 I needed something that I dont have to download.Quote from: !~*:.Pink Floyd.:*~! on September 07, 2008, 02:56:52 PM
