Solve : google chrome freezing?

Answer»

google chrome keeps freezing...not every page, but a lot of them and OFTEN...making in almost unuseable. i noticed this after i used a free registry scanner, that was PROBABLY a bad idea. i haven't noticed any other programs acting up, so i really don't know the cause. i've been using google chrome for almost 2 years now, and i miss it. any ideas?if you have system restore available, I'd probably restore to just before you used the free registry scanner.

Using registry scanner a lot of times adds more problems to your computer that wasn't there before.thanks, i appreciate the suggestion. that was my first thought too, i already tried. i went back to about a week before i used the registry scanner, and the problem is still there. i also tried uninstalling, and reinstalling google chrome, since it's the only program i seem to be having trouble with. but, that didn't work either.try downloading ChromePlus browser. It is based on Chrome and has additional features that, in my opinion, makes browsing more CONVENIENT such as having an IE mode if you need to use IE for some reason just to name one.

Of course, you can import your bookmarks and settings (whatever boomkark sync provides) if you use that.

Hope you will like this browser, and hopefully it works on your computer now.I tried chrome plus. The same issue persists in that program as well. I'm at a loss. I may have to reformat my hard drive, which seems really drastic. Quote from: jmccarver on August 04, 2010, 05:09:37 AM

Unfortunately, I can't think of any other suggestions.

That's the problem with registry scanners / boosters.
There seem to be a number of complaints about Chrome all of a sudden. If that's the only program giving you trouble I suggest you use a DIFFERENT browser for the time being until Google releases a newer version of Chrome. Regardless, formatting seems like overkill.I am new here & not computer savvy.

I have tried numerous times to download Google Chrome. Whenever I do,
nothing works. I can't even get a page to come up. So, I uninstall and re-installed.

The last time I did, I IMMEDIATELY got the "Google Chrome Crashed" message.

So, I will just stick with Firefox for now. A registry cleaner seemed to have caused the problem. Never use registry cleaners. They are nothing but bad news.
