Answer» I'm not sure if this belongs in here or in software, but since it's a browser plugin, I decided to post in here. I am having an issue on my communications PC. The Google Talk plugin is proving to be... difficult. When I acquired this PC, it had a bunch of group policy restrictions, and was joined to a domain, and I have since removed all of those - I do not have a WinXP installer disc. I downloaded the Google Talk plugin so that I could make phone calls within Gmail. Well, once that was done, I refreshed Gmail so the plugin could load. It did not. I still got "Download the voice plugin". Google Chrome's task manager reported the plugin running, but knowing that the plugin library launches the executable, and that the task manager only checks the status of the library, I decided to check in Windows Task Manager for the executable. Guess what? Not running. I've seen the solution on Google Product Forums to TRY running the executable manually to create "googletalk_port" on the HDD. That worked... until I tried to open a call window on Gmail. Then googletalkplugin.exe TERMINATED from my Windows Task Manager and the above mentioned file disappeared. I've been digging on Google for hours, and found nothing. So does ANYONE have any ideas? I'm on a WinXP machine, an HP/Compaq tc4400 (with second battery and Bluetooth MODULE) if you really want the hardware specs. Need any more info, LET me know. Thanks in advance - I use GTalk phone a lot.
