Answer» so i just built my NEW PC and installed gta IV and GTA SA. Gta 4 runs good, however GTA SA runs terribly! My OLD pentium 4 runs it better why? I will list my specs at the bottom. When i launch the game it goes into a different scheme or something like that? is there a way to get this game to run smooth?
specs AMD FX 8120 (8-core bulldozer) 8 GB RAM Asus M5A97 Motherboard MSI R6870 Graphics card.
Is my graphics card too powerfull or something for this game? its really choppy.thanks for all help in advance. This game I believe forces your graphics to 800 x 600 or 1024 x 768, which MAY be what you mean by different scheme.
What are you running for a resolution on your display and what size display?
On another game called DRIVER - Parallel Lines, I actually got better performance by backing off from ultra game settings, I was getting a graphics SURGE and then like a 1/4 second freeze screen then 2 or 3 seconds of really responsive rendering and then the 1/4 second frozen rendering. Instead of having everything to the max, I played with the graphics settings and got this issue resolved. I am using the ATI ASUS 5450HD with 1GB DDR3 which is plenty for the older games. Newer games also DONT chop. GTA SA, I went with the default graphics setting and had no issues, but if my memory is correct when going into OPTIONS for GTA SA there is a slider bar to adjust graphics. Been over a year since I poked around in that games adjustments. Only complaint I have with the older games and widescreens are that they weren't intended for widescreens and so sometimes you have to force your display to operate at say 1024x768 and end up with unused dead space on display, then launch the game and then everything is fine, while others like GTA SA I believe self adjust, but forcing 1024x768 to see if you get better performance might be an idea before backing off on video settings from ultra to normal etc. What Operating System are you running?
I know SA has unresolved problems running on Windows 7 computers.Quote from: Carbon Dudeoxide on August 06, 2012, 10:29:07 PM What Operating System are you running?

Gta SA works perfectly on my Windows 7 Lenovo ThinkPad laptop from 2009 or early 2010. It only starts to be weird when you save after using cheats, so maybe it isn't all Win7 PCs?Quote from: Pingvin on August 07, 2012, 05:16:45 AMGta SA works perfectly on my Windows 7 Lenovo ThinkPad laptop from 2009 or early 2010. I couldn't get it working on my Windows 7. Perhaps it's because I'm running at 64 bit?I think you are good to go with this. But to make you if it is fine. You can check your system specification online and get the system compatibility.Quote from: Carbon Dudeoxide on August 07, 2012, 08:21:45 AMI couldn't get it working on my Windows 7. It works both on my Satellite L300 as well as my Desktop machine, which both run Windows 7 x64.well, i ended up turning the frame LIMITER off in display settings and it runs. However now it runs a bit too fast. lol is there a way to turn fram limiter back on, but be able to set the number of frames per second?
