Solve : GTA San Andreas texture issues?

Answer»

I've installed 2 mods, one that replaces all the cars in the game to high poly real cars and a mod that retextures most of the surfaces in the game with higher resolution ones. The problem is, now the textures randomly change to the really low res versions used when they are viewed from far away. It gets really annoying because this strips down the detail so that I can't see poles and stuff and keep crashing into them. I think the issue is that the game has some kind of memory limit by default which isnt letting enough textures load into memory when I'm playing since they are now bigger. I got the SA limit adjuster but I'm not sure which VALUES to change, does anyone know?Is that not what is supposed to happen when you are traveling at speed, loading the textures and scenery?Yeah that's what I'm talking about, it happens on the PS2 version when you drive or fly fast because it can't read the data off the disc fast enough, but the problem is for me it does that all the time. What also tends to happen is it displays the high resolution stuff and then randomly switches to low res. Sometimes objects dissapear entirely, for example the bridge that goes over grove street will completely dissapear and the cars driving over it will float in the air. Sometimes even the texture for the ground will completely dissapear and it will be clear.Could it be because of the mod?Quote from: Soviet Genius on September 10, 2008, 03:16:29 PM

Yeah, it's because of the mods, but I think this is happening because originally the game has a size limit for the cache of textures and models which is no longer large enough because the textures are higher resolution and therefore bigger. I was wondering if this can be fixed with the SA limit adjuster, but I don't know which settings to change...Not sure (I don't have GTA SA for the computer anymore) but wouldn't it depend on your RAM, VRAM and/or Processing Power?Quote from: Soviet Genius on September 11, 2008, 04:06:18 PM

I faced the same problem. But it's solved, I just upgrade my PC hardware. May be it will works for you too.

Thank you for replying to a month-old topic with SPAM. *sigh*i had the same problem.
The problems comes when you modify this game especially when replace texture with high quality ones.

GTA SA is not supported by high resolution texture, original GTA SA as just low poly textures, even radeon 9200 can handle it very GOOD. When I modified GTA SA with a dozen high resolution textures for vehicles…boom! The ENVIRONMENT textures is missing.

theres a mod called stream fix which fixes the issue perfectly.Honestly I think it's silly to retexture any game less then about 10 years old. It's like "darn, this game RUNS really good. Hmm, how can I make the FPS go down the crapper? I know! I'll load a gigabyte worth of textures!"
Sorry buddy, -500 points to you. 3 week old topic.
I would have taken away a thousand points but I liked your point.

heh, woops. I guess "unread posts" doesn't mean, "new posts" by any means.
