Solve : Help! Need Assistance with Game install?

Answer»

Bought several pc games and after installing them onto my desktop (XP system), I can't get the same ones to install onto my laptop (Vista). I thought I might try to use the DOS to install....as you can see, I'm so not computer literate.

Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated!

Yeah, name of the game would be helpful....Quote from: 2x3i5x on May 30, 2009, 10:45:43 PM

This is the fourth message you have followed me on with no actual advice. Cut it out or I'll report you. You put a message down to help not to agree that you can't help. In fact I'm reporting you.For what? He didn't DO anything...

would you rather he disagree with you at every turn? The name of the game would be helpful.

What do you expect us to do? If you two have a problem, settle it elsewhere. That's what PMs are for.Hang on a minute BC before you get all hung up. This is the third message I'm getting followed on and there is another one after this which I've now just reported. No matter what I say He's there like an itch you can't scratch.Quote from: Carbon Dudeoxide on May 30, 2009, 10:55:47 PM

Carbon ...
Mulreay is just being weird, 10 people already thanked me for being helpful to them since I have registered here and therefore I am wondering why Mulreay is b///hing over me for being like a tramp? I haven't done anything wrong and he reports me for just following him? As long as I'm not breaking any CH rules, then I am here to stay.

Ok, back to the topic. We just need to figure out what games the original poster wants to play before we can help out. so you'r reporting him because you find him annoying. Didn't realize that was a valid reason. The link says "report []iabuse[/i]", IE, of the FORUM itself, for spam or inappropriate content.

...

Great, great.

Don't worry, guys- We'll just turn Teresab56's thread into a public open mediated session to RESOLVE your differences! No need to bother with that whole PM stuff.

In an attempt to rescue the thread, Aside from needing the names of the games I'm curious to know what OS they were DESIGNED for. It seems to me that they could be older windows games, which have known issues running under Windows Vista but often work fine with windows XP. If this is the case a Command Prompt cannot be used to install.

What we need is the specifications of the PC and the games your trying to install- as well as any error messages your getting when you try to install it on your Vista Laptop. Most installers might require you to run them as the administrator.Well, it happens that Mulreay is always there? If Mulreay really wants to be a problem, he can go report me to the CH admins for all I care. But really .... life must go on The name of the game(s):

ok it works on windows xp ... I assume you just popped in the dvd and you installed it straight from the disk installer as normally expected?

try ti install the games using the windows xp compatibility mode on windows vista and see if it works? Follow the instructions from the two links here to get into the windows xp compatibility mode on your vista machine.

2. http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/using-windows-vista-compatibility-mode/

(I don't know why the unc site's images don't show up, whichi s why I listed the other website) I see that your game is for windows 2000 and windows xp and probably wasn't designed with vista in mind, I don't know but hope that works, if not let us know.
