Solve : HELP WITH DOWNLOADING A GAME?

Answer»

Hello, my problem is downloading a game from a floppy disk to my PC by way of ms prompt.
I played this game last year but for some reason I uninstalled it.
The name of the game is " Blake Stone" it is a 3D game and for some reason it won't install.
To install this game I would have to GO to dos and TYPE a:\ I've done that but but it takes me nowhere.
The other way to install it it's by GOING to run and type A:\ then press enter. This does not work either. But in the past it did.
Can anyone help me with this?

Thank you!

COSMOS ( Brandy) You may need to use a program like DosBox to get this to work correctly.Thank you for replying back.
I do have dosbox downloaded but even with this I can't get the game install.
I don't know if I have to type in a code or change something.
It does says  " dosbox with launcher SE" then it has two small boxes with a black check in them.
Is that what I'm suppose to launch?

cosmos (Brandy)You may have to do some special stuff to mount the drive and everything.  Try looking at the directions here (http://www.dosbox.com/wiki/Basic_Setup_and_Installation_of_DosBox).  Does this help? Are you typeing the name of the file?    Are you just doing this A:/  cause it will sit at that till you tell it something.Hi again.
I tried  downloading dosbox which is different version from the one I have, but a message appeared saying this file is corrupted.
So I din't downloaded.

BrandyIt mean that the files are badTry opening the setup.bat or setup.exe file directly from the floppy itselfIf the files are bad there isnt much that he can do, he would have to find another download for it.I have purchased  three of  these games in case they got  corrupted and I have gotten the same results wit all three.
I had no problem installing this game in the past.
I think the problem started when " Ad-Aware" had finished scanning.
The game is install this way, go ti run type A:\ install. Then I hear the PC making noise, like trying to do something, then is silence. Please if you don't mind. how do I open the setup bat or the setup exe. file from the disk? Also once I'm there what do I do?
Sorry for all the questions.
If this don't work then there is NOTHING else to do.

Thank you!

cosmos (Brandy)hhmmmm.....  I dont know but I do know that ad-aware stopped makeing defs for it. Quote from: cosmos on April 23, 2009, 10:56:12 AM

OK

Open My Computer from either youe desktop or start menu.
double click your A:/ drive and then find the setup program from there Hi there, well I went to my computer and found the A drive. Tried to download the game. At first I had hope because I can hear the PC trying to download something.
But then it stopped.
Now I was thinking that maybe there might be something wrong with my Dos, but that's another issue.
will write Apogee which is the company that made this game. Maybe they know something we don't know.
Anyway those who tried to help me thank you for your time. It was greatly appreciated.

God Bless!

cosmos ( Brandy )Hi again, just saw that my floppy disk space is full. Maybe that's why I can't install the game.
Does anyone here know How I can free up space for the A drive. It also says that I'm low on visual memory. I don't know anything about that but that what it said.

Thank you again!

cosmos ( Brandy )Its virtual memory and there is no a drive as a single drive.  The space is all on floppies same with cd and cd readers.  You can do a Format A:/ on any floppies that you want to clear.
