Solve : Hitbox problems - shooter games?

Answer»

In like any FPS game (Battlefield 3, SWAT 4, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Ghost Recon Online, Battlefield Bad Company 2 and more), when I hit someone, I can only see the squirting blood, but the server doesn´t register me hitting anyone. I have tried a lots of tweaks that I ´ve found on the internet (especially in game SWAT4, where you can modify its .ini files in a large size), but nothing helps - the tweaks were not meant to eliminate hitbox problem, but to increase overall performance and internet connection. Of course I don´t have the problem all the time, but the gaming is really unplayable like this, as you die only because of this stupid bug, when you shot someone´s head 9 times (1 shot is needed in SWAT4 to kill with weapons I use) and then he turns on you and kills you on 1 burst not even aimed to your head. Compare for yourself:

Internet connection:

Computer rig: MS Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1 (original), Intel Core i5-3470 3.20 Ghz, 8 GB RAM DDR3 single channel, Nvidia GeForce GTX 650 Ti, motherboard MSI B75A-G43 (MS-7758)
Note: Changing between old and new gaming rig didn´t help.

I am not using any adware, spyware or anti-viruses (only the already installed Intel antivirus). On the old PC, I was having Avast.

I am looking for SWAT4 hitbox fix, as other games don´t really make me fun. If you are interested about "nodie" in BF3, I will explain you too and send screenshots,  because it´s little bit different there.

I WOULD BE ESPECIALLY GRATEFUL FOR ANY HELP.

Best regards,
OehtabThis is basically a problem with your connection to the game server.  Running speed tests was a great first start, those tests show nothing out of the ordinary.  I would RECOMMEND having a read of this - it's basically a ping test that runs constantly, so you can see how your ping does over time.  Get that set up, and run for a few days, monitor the results on there and post the link to the monitor if you like so we can take a look.  That'll show you whether your connection gets worse at certain times (usually peak times) or if there's something else funky going on. Hi Calum,

thank you very much for your respond, I truly appreciate it. I will start testing immediately and share the results with you as soon as possible.
Finally a competent answer, not like on 4 other sites where I have posted this. Thank you once again. That's what we do let us know how you get on and we'll see what we can do.Here is my test. The problem is still there, even though it looks good overall.

My Broadband Ping

I have been playing, from time to time I was rapidly SCROLLING on Facebook, searching videos on YouTube and so on, just as I always do, so I guess the two high pings are caused by that - because after they occured, I went to sleep.Your minimum latency is rather high for gaming, it's a solid 45-50.  That is the root cause of your problem.  For comparison, mine is 17.That might be caused by connection to a router that provides internet to about 6 devices.
Any possible way to decrease minimum latency?

By the way, weird thing is, that there are people with much HIGHER ingame ping that don´t have this problem.  Unless they do the same test, to get a nice constant ping going to monitor the connection over a period of time, you can't compare your constant ping times to their "instant" ping.  Additionally, games can MEASURE ping in a different way - some measure falsely low or falsely high compared to your actual ping.
That latency is the latency to your modem only - so it discounts any further latency from the modem to your PC, passing through a router, switch, cables or wifi on the way.  Therefore, there's very little you personally can do to reduce that, save calling your ISP and seeing if they can do anything to help.  Are you on cable or DSL?I have cable connection. In that CASE the only thing you can really do is call your ISP and see if there's anything they can do.Alright. I am not sure if I will call them, because I doubt they will help + there were many problems providing us internet connection in the past.

Anyway, I have thought, if something like this http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/957944-battlefield-bad-company-2/54397003 couldn´t be added into SWAT4.ini, perhaps it could help too? Also, can´t the high minimum latency be caused by distance between me and the server?Anyone still here? )) Quote from: Oehtab on July 23, 2013, 05:06:04 AM

Have some patience

Indeed it could.  Are you referring to the distance between you and the game server, or you and the pingbox server that Thinkbroadband use?

That's mainly because of the way that Bad Company 2 handles hitbox detection, some games do it completely on the client side, some completely on the server side.  You can't change anything that's done server side, I don't know how SWAT 4 handles it.

One other consideration, are you on wifi or a wired connection?I am sorry for being unpatient, that´s my nature (unfortunately).

I am reffering to the pingbox server that Thinbkbroadband uses, because UK servers mostly have higher ping for me.

I am not sure how does SWAT4 work, but I guess it´s completely server-sided.
And I use wire connection.
