How do I - Open a folder path in windows explorer from my web browser?

Hello there, just a little stuck here and I can't find the specifics on the site, or google search.

Ideally I'd like some html code to link the html page to the folder path by opening it in an instance of Window's Explorer, or any code else a browser can read (I'm using the latest Firefox final).

The problems I've come up with so far are;

trying to link the file-path opens it in the browser - I want it to open in explorer.
trying to link explorer returns a download query,
trying to link a batchfile makes the browser veiw its contents.

I'm sure you guys are bubbling with solutions!

Sounds about normal to me.  What exactly are you trying to accomplish here?  In other words...why do you want to do this?

If this is something you're trying to publish on the web, you're pretty much out of luck.Well, I think I specified enough information for the problem. But if it helps in come up with a solution faster then I'll tell ye. I want to make a website for use on a lan party. Just to make it easier to display information - announcements, tournament schedules etc.- for all the users to access, with a few links to folders on a server or host CONTAINING neccesary patches, updates and anti-virus software. The Lan is relatively small, though knowing this stuff will speed things up.
I MAINLY asked because we get a LOT of members trying to make web sites by linking to files hosted locally on their computers (instead of on a server), which just doesn't work.  Now, your SITUATION is a little different, but I'm still not entirely sure it'll work.  Of course, I haven't done a whole lot with LAN's.

I think this might actually fit better in the Networking section of our forum.  I would suggest asking your question there (be sure to link to this thread), or I could simply move this over to that section for you.
