Answer» I deleted bookmarks in firefox, how do I get it back? How did you delete them ? ? How did you delete them ? ? Using older ver of Firefox here, and below the profiles dir I have a dir named bookmarkbackups. In it are 5 files. bookmarks-2008-04-04.html through bookmarks-2008-04-08.html I think this is automatic behavior of Firefox. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Lost_bookmarks and http://kb.mozillazine.org/Bookmarks.bak http://kb.mozillazine.org/Bookmarks (I see some comments about Firefox 3 here) I hope this helps. export your bookmarks now and then to prevent yourself from losing the bookmarks permanently. Lost your precious bookmarked pages huh? Now check this link: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Lost_bookmarks. Hopefully you can recover what you lost. I sometimes export bookmark and import to internet explorer. That way, if all is lost, internet explorer is a temporary firefox until the REAL thing gets fixed for me. If you delete bookmarks can you still retrieve them?I just right clicked on bookmarks and hit delete, but i was trying to delete something else. I'm sure my bookmarks would still be there.Quote from: justinb003 on April 09, 2008, 12:59:12 PM I just right clicked on bookmarks and hit delete, ... Have you checked the Recycle Bin? See your bookmarks file in there? Quote from: WillyW on April 08, 2008, 12:55:29 PM Quote from: patio on April 08, 2008, 07:49:36 AMHow did you delete them ? ? These must be backups you created...i don't think it is normal Firefox behaviour. I show none in mine...I've got a folder called bookmarkbackups as well with 5 backups of bookmarks.html, and I haven't created it or the files myself. From http://kb.mozillazine.org/Lost_bookmarks Quote In Firefox 1.5 and above, five daily bookmark backup files are saved in the bookmarkbackups folder, located in the Firefox profile folder. You must recover one of these five backups before they are overwritten by newer versions.Quote from: patio on April 09, 2008, 02:16:14 PM ... Nope. And they automatically rotate off as a new one is created each day. Quote ...i don't think it is normal Firefox behaviour. I think it is. Check those Mozilla Knowledge Base articles that I posted links for. Quote I show none in mine... If it is possible to shut off the function.... I don't know. And I was wondering if it might not be included in the latest version, which I assume you are using. But according to Deerpark's post/quote, it is. hmm... don't know what to say... as to why yours is not creating them. This is interesting. Just checked and in Tools/Options i don't see anything for AUTOMATED backup of bookmarks. Bit i'm not running ver 1.5. Bit i'm not running ver 1.5. You're probably in the "and above" category. Quote I'm not concerned about it as i run MozBack regular like... It is just very curious that yours is not making the five automatic backups of that file. Side NOTE: I use SyncBack to make a back up copy to another drive. With Firefox making the automatic five backups, with different file names, it is a bit of a pain in the *censored*. As time goes by, I'd have a LOT of bookmark files saved by Syncback. 365 a year. Hey... WAIT.... IDEA!! I use SyncBack, not MozBack. You are just the opposite. MozBack is designed to work with Firefox. What are the chances that MozBack is handling this for you? in that MozBack, after it makes a backup copy for you, erases the extra copies made by Firefox? Perhaps as a way to prevent what I'm experiencing.... having to manually get rid of the extra copies. What do you think? You may be on to something...on a side note i also use SyncBack as well but only manually.....Probably in my Top Ten list of best Freeware ! |
