Solve : I've to do Root partition in Ubuntu?

Answer»

I've to do root partition in ubuntu 10.10, in my system whole 500 gp is DEDICATED to ubuntu, how can i RESIZE this partitionBurn yourself a Parted Magic boot CD and use GParted (dsiplayed as a "Partition MANAGER" ICON) to resize and create new partitions as needed.

http://partedmagic.comRob is correct. A Parted Magic boot CD will work.  Also a live CD or DVD like Linux Mint will work. They both have gparted.
But why do you want a / partition?  Why not just use the whole disk? Or you could make 4 partitions and have 4 DIFFERENT operation systems.  But you still would not need a root partition.
Whatever partition magic you need, you can do it with gparted.
