Solve : Linux get not viruses.? |
Answer» I keep hearing that Linux get not any viruses.i use my pc for browsing,SEO working, watching movies and downloading from youtube.really is this not get any viruses? inform me.In a word, "no." Even worse, Microsoft's email software is able to infect a user's computer when they do something as innocuous as read an email! And if somebody is still running Outlook 97, they deserve it, really. Quote because Windows uses a registry and allows executional programs to run (exe files) the caveat is easier to use MS Windows, but easier to hack tooThe registry only stores data... *NIX allows anything to run that has the execution bit set or starts with a shebang. This doesn't really do anything on either system. The OS is designed to run other programs. An additional point is that whether something can get viruses and whether it is secure are two different stories. All modern operating systems feature Limited User Accounts- Linux uses sudo, BSD I believe uses chroot, Windows has UAC, etc. Quote from: abseh1 on September 03, 2012, 06:47:25 AM Even worse, Microsoft's email software is able to infect a user's computer when they do something as innocuous as read an email! I think the real issue is how easily you can get INFECTED in the browser. And I'm talking Internet Explorer, Firefox, CHROME, etc.. EDIT: I mean to say another issue, it would be foolish to suggest that email-spread malware wasn't a real issue. Quote from: abseh1 on September 03, 2012, 06:47:25 AM It is just matter of time, once Linux got popular crackers will target Linux desktop too (think of all those net-books loaded with Linux). I thought cracker was a racist term for Caucasians... Quote from: BC_Programmer on September 08, 2012, 01:14:08 AM And if somebody is still running Outlook 97, they deserve it, really.Haha, agreed!!! All OSes can get viruses. It is true that there are less for Linux but it is possible you could get one. A LOT of it depends on what you do with your OS. There are people who secure their Windows and don't get viruses. It is funny though to see windows virus sites using Linux though! There was one time that I using my computer with Ubuntu and I purposely went to this virus site. It had this fake windows XP themed screen and a flashing messages about something being critically wrong with my PC and telling me to "click here". It was so funny, I just laughed my head off. |
