Answer» Hello All
I am trying to get IE 6 intalled onto several Windows 98 SE machines that already have IE 5 on them.
Problem is that when i run setup, it states that "a pervious install requires a REBOOT to complete, please reboot PC", which i do, but when setup is run again, the same message appears.
I have completed this cycle 5 times now, and its not just one PC it happens on.
Any ideas??
Thanks
AndyTry safe mode.
Remove IE 5 firstly and do a clean installation. Use Add remove Windows Components.
XP Lite and 2000 is a great tool to remove unwanted Windows application. I don't know if works for 98.
You can have it's TRIAL version. http://www.litepc.com/ Small program.
Hope Helps. There are several possible causes and a few fixes.
The most COMMON fix is to run the installation in Safe Mode (suggested by microsoft in several cases).
Other fixes are MUCH more COMPLICATED and involve IE5 search and destroy: http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.win98.internet.browser/browse_thread/thread/a0682f2573860132/220e6bae1b03991d%23220e6bae1b03991d?sa=X&oi=groupsr&start=2&num=3
