Solve : IE 7.0 will not print?

Answer»

Cannot print from the web using IE 7.0 and it did work before.
When I use CTR+P does not work either

same thing applies when I run Outlook Express or AOL (part of ATT DSL)

the only thing I am aware of is that my grand daughter was using the computer
before this happend (she has no idea what she could have done )

Printer is working, When I am using Firefox I can print from the internet, when I access AOL over Firefox, it will print too ( does not work for OE)

I can copy articles to MS WORD and print. however

so how can I fix it?
Hi Jens and welcome. Rather than assume you have xp or vista o/s give us your computer information please. Any recent downloads? What anti virus are you running? The more info the better chance someone can HELP you. To: Cryhelp
more info on my problem"

OS Window XP home edition, Svc Pack 3 no recent downloads which could have
caused this ( downloaded FireFox English ed after I could not seem to get another
Browser than IE , tried to download Oprera but could not find it???) Tried to use
MS help prior date restore (cannot restore to that date 3 times diffent dates, and I know that this normally works since I used that function before) I use IE Version 7.0 (cannot print) Outlook Express Version 6 (bundled with ATT DSL package) also have outlook 2003 (MS Office) which now also does not want to print email
As stated before when I need to print something from the browser I use now Firefox
and emails I copy to MS Word and print
thats for trying to help

Did Outlook print problem start about the same time as IE, and OE problems? What anti virus are you running? Reason I asked about anti virus is I have been reading about some issues with norton and IE 7 printing.Norton VIA the
AOL programTry this: Exit any email programs that are running, such as Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express.
2 Start Norton AntiVirus.
If Norton AntiVirus is installed as part of Norton SystemWorks or Norton Internet Security, then start that program.
3 Click Options.
If you see a menu, click Norton AntiVirus.
4 In the left pane, click Email.
5 In the right pane, uncheck Scan incoming Email and Scan outgoing Email.
6 Click OK.
7 If you use Norton AntiVirus 2006/2005, then in the Protection ALERT dialog box, on the drop-down menu, click Permanently, and then click OK.
8 Exit Norton AntiVirus.
Also turn off anti spam: Under norton anti spam click status & settings, click anti spam, click turn off. Reboot and see if problem persists.
so far no luck, tried top go w/o Norton as recommended, did not change anything.
my problems must be connected to IE and MS because OE 2003 (Part of MS Office)
and OUTLOOK EXPRESS and IE are all MS products and, you guessed it, when you try an email link it opens IE (even if I run the Firefox Browser). So I figured I try the new and improved AOL Explorer. It downloaded and installed but when you try to get to it " service temporarily not available". Emailed MS they are not helpful
(try this site or that or call the vendor which sold this product) Cannot even download over IE the download gets lost no dialog box ETC. And no I cannot seem to delete IE7 either, there is no link in the software install/'delete for IE7.

thanks fo sending me the link.....

however I am still no further from solving my problem

there should be an answer from some of your experts to explain why I can print my emails if I can bring them up on the Firefox browser (Example, when I run Gmail it will print because it is running under my firefox browser) and why I cannot print when the output ( be it mail such as outlook or AOL, or this what I am typing right now) is coming over MS IE the fact is that any links seem to open automatically using IE
and therefore not printable. Yes I can work my way around it, but this is not the solution.

Contacting MS, was , as I mentioned before, an exercise in futility. I recall that at one time that MS would send a recommendation which actually helped... now???Your posts have numerous inaccuracies, making it difficult to decipher your comments. Quote from: Jens on May 29, 2008, 02:15:33 PM

There is no "OE 2003". If you mean Outlook 2003, please say Outlook, not OE or Outlook Express.

Outlook Express is not bundled with ATT DSL package. It's bundled with Internet Explorer; it's been bundled with IE, starting way back with Windows 95 and continuing all the way through Windows XP.

And, why is AOL "part of ATT DSL" here? I know a few people who have ATT DSL and they do not use AOL. They do not need AOL.

IE7 can be deleted via Add or Remove Programs. But, I do not recommend doing that; I don't think it would solve your problem. Beside, IE7 is a more secure browser than IE 6.

You say clicking on a email link open OE. Open IE, click on Tools, Internet Options, Programs, and see what program is selected for E-mail. If OE, that explains why OE opens when an email link is clicked on.

It seems to me your whole email and browser scenario is more complicated than necessary. Why are you using AOL when you have ATT and also an Gmail account? Dump AOL and dump their software.

Regarding email, you've mentioned OE, Outlook, IE, Firefox, and AOL's "browser". ATT and Gmail can both be received with a POP email client such as OE. Do you have a particular reason for using both webmail and POP email clients such as OE and Outlook? Why not pick one method of doing email, such as OE, and then focus on getting that to work?I am sorry you are confused. I would not use Gmail if outlook express would print.
as far as AOL and ATT DSL is concerned... when I purchased DSL from then bellsouth, it was marketed as a package deal (get this and we trow in free AOL etc and yes
the outlook express version 6 did come with this DSL package. ) outlook 2003, well I have MS Office 2003 which comes with Outlook)

Bottom line, Outlook Express and Outlook used to print
as far as removing Internet Explorer version 7.0, no this computer does NOT let you
remove it and yes I tried the add/ delete program
to make it plain and simple Outlook Express is where I receive most of my email in
AOL used to be my primary email account, since I cannot print AOL email or Outlook
or Outlook Express email I added G mail so that I can send the email I want to print
to my Gmail and print it.

You did not answer my question, what causes IE (internet explorer) and Outlook
and Outlook Express not to print, while I can print from the Firefox browser and G mail
(not MS products)

yes they all used to work fine at one time, however....
