Solve : IE 7- home page?

Answer»

I recently installed IE 7 thinking it would offer more security, and FIND it is now a problem. I had set my HOME page for yahoo mail sign in page. My folks at home use yahoo mail and feel it easier to just open the explorer and have the yahoo sign in page ready. Now after, installing this Internet explorer 7 it keeps taking me to the following http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=54834 then it changes to the following http://runonce.msn.com/runonce2.aspx page of msn and nothing is displayed except a blue screen. EVEN after setting 'yahoomail' as the 'home page'. Any one with suggestions to solve this problem.
I was reading the string with the vulnerability of IE 7, I hope I have not jumped from the frying pan into the fire.

Good point, Firefox rulesIf you type the yahoo mail address in the address box, will the page open? Any problem going to other sites?

I don't use Yahoo mail but, as a test, I just set the home page in IE7 to https://login.yahoo.com/config/mail?.intl=us, closed IE, then re-opened it. No problem.

But, yeah, just install Firefox if you don't want to spend time troubleshooting this. Thanks every one for the advise to 'install firefox'. How do i get Firefox, is it free? Where can i get to download the same?
Soybean, I am able to got to all other sites no problem. It is just that the home page never changes, even after changing it to anyother page, which includes a BLANK page. in the internet options box the page which was set as the Home page can be read so which means it has been saved by somehow this page i mentioned keeps coming up
Thanks

Firefox is entirely free, it is open source.

Firefox 2 is out since yesterday which is the new and improved Firefox. I haven't tried it yet, but I just know it's going to be better than IE7. As Firefox has always been and always will be. What adware/spyware removal tools do you have installed?

I think, if you do some GOOGLE searching, you'll find this issue is not directly related to IE7. It can also affect previous versions of IE. Here's evidence of this: IE6 always goes to "runonce" screen. It mentions Adwatch. Are you using that?

Here's another discussion on this issue: how to disable the annoying "http://runonce.msn.com/runonce2.aspx, IE 7
