Answer» Alright, my computer is experiencing some very irritating problems most of it revolving around the internet. I'm using Vista Home edition and currently have three users on it. I'm only having problems with the one user account, the others don't SEEM to have any issues at all.
Internet explorer will not load CERTAIN pages. TD Easyweb (online banking), hotmail, facebook and various other pages will state that they are "done" loading but the page is completely blank. I was given some advice to try and use Firefox to see if the problems also show up there.
I tried DOWNLOADING it and the page loaded completely, except for the download button. I had to log onto another user's account to download it onto my computer. On that account it worked fine. I went back onto mine, and Mozilla consistently crashed and REFUSED to open at all.
Its really frustrating trying to figure out what to do at this point. I know its not any sort of connection problem as I am currently typing this on a laptop connected to the same internet.
I'm debating reinstalling Windows Vista to see if the problems will miraculously fix themselves.
Just a note: -I've already tried restoring the system to the point before I had these problems. It wouldn't let me. -I checked to see if Java was working, it says its running. -These problems only occur on one user account, the other two have no problems at all. -I've run virus/spyware SCANS and deleted any unnecessary files on the computer.
Please give me some suggestions, I'm about ready to chuck this computer out the window! first thing to try would run a virus scan and clear all cookies and temp files in ie and firefoxQuote from: smeezekitty on August 24, 2009, 09:43:55 PM first thing to try would run a virus scan and clear all cookies and temp files in ie and firefox
Ran a virus scan, nothing came up.
I literally just downloaded Firefox so there is nothing to delete in it. Also tried reinstalling it.
Internet Explorer temp & cookies deleted with no change to the problem.
try Google Chrome and see if that works on your computer. what version of ie and ff i dont know if this works on vista but run command prompt as an admin and type SFC /scannow btw you are one of the few that actually uses multiuser capibilitys most people ether use one computer per person or just have one user acount and have people share thatBoot to safe mode with network support. Can you get to those sites?
