Answer» I'm running IE6 (version 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp.050928-1517 to be exact) on a Gateway GM5094E with Windows XP: Media Center Edition (with SP2 INSTALLED). Not really sure if it matters, but I have an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Processor 4200+ with NVIDIA GeForce 6100. Anyway...for the most part, IE runs just fine. But sometimes, when I open it, it will freeze up when I try to open a site. It won't have any problems, but as soon as I try accessing a web site, it'll freeze for about a minute or two before doing anything and then will run normally afterwards. It doesn't do it every time, mind you, so it's not an urgent problem. But it happens every couple of days and it can be quite annoying when I'm trying to get something done.
This doesn't happen with any specific sites. It'll do it with Google, MySpace, Netflix, my school site (it HAPPENED about ten minutes ago when I went to log into class), and...well, anything. I have no idea what might've triggered this. I've had my PC for a little over a month and this has been happening for maybe two weeks. If anybody has any solutions or suggestions (besides upgrading to IE7, because I'd really rather stick with this version), I would really appreciate it.Run the solution to your other issue and see if this helps the IE problem...i suspect your internet connection is slow on starting though. Watch the modem lights.Well, see, it's not my internet that's freezing/lagging, but the browser itself. So, if I GO to a site through the drop box, the list will stay there for a minute before going away. Or if I click on one of my Links, the button will stay pressed in for a minute before popping back up. I'm connecting to sites just fine, but IE6 sometimes becomes unresponsive.
I'm getting help with a couple of trojans and that fixed the problem with my default sounds, and I'm hoping that I'll get lucky and it'll fix this problem too. This has been happening since before I contracted the trojans, but who knows. My IE6 problem only happens once in awhile, which makes it difficult to test, but I'll keep you UPDATED.
