Answer» I downloaded and installed IE7 at the weekend. It seemed to work fine but ever since, I get a message to run CHKDSK at every re-boot/startup and an error message re "You have no paging file or the file is too small….."
I have tried updating the settings for Virtual memory via the control panel but no changes seem to be saved.
I have tried booting into Safe Mode but the screen APPEARS stuck, does nothing and then re-boots normally (there does seem to be a lot of hard disk activity though so I wonder if it's ALSO running CHKDSK). I just can't see what's happening off the bottom of the screen.
When my PC does finally start up, I'm getting errors with nearly every program I try to open, although I'm not really SURPRISED about this. I have uninstalled Internet Explorer and that has made no difference.
Please would someone be ABLE to offer me some ADVICE on how best to sort this problem. The next thing I intend to try is a restore (if Windows has created a restore point for me) but I've not done this before so I'm not that confident it will solve all my problems.
Many thanksHow about telling us EXACTLY how you accessed "settings for Virtual memory via the control panel"? What are the current settings?
How large is your hard drive? How much free space?
