Solve : IE8 installed but IE6 is still recognised?

1.	Solve : IE8 installed but IE6 is still recognised?
Answer» i'm running vista with IE8, but every website i vist that has a browser detect script alerts me that i'm running IE6. if i GO to microsoft.com to upgrade the browser, their detection script says i have IE8 INSTALLED so why am i GETTING this IE6 message? some web sits will not GIVE me access as they think i'm running IE6. any help would be appreciated in solving this problem.In IE CLICK on HELP - ABOUT - what version is it?
