Solve : incorrect md5sum?

Answer»

i downloaded MEPISLite to burn it on a cd.

but it seems like the md5 sum on the website and the one defined by HashTab don't match up :s though i have no clue why it WOULD have been downloaded incorrectly. the file has the correct size.

so what should i do? :pMake sure you are using the correct checksum command. I know of cksum /usr/ucb/sum /usr/bin/sum and md5sum to start with.

You said the web site uses md5sum so make sure you use md5sum on your linux box when comparing.

If it doesn't match download it again, if it still doesn't match after a few retries then download it from another source. Quote from: banjo67xxx on May 29, 2009, 05:34:11 PM

im working on windows currently :S i posted in linux section because it was about a linux distro i was downloading.

maybe a dumb idea when i look back now :pYou can use MD5Summer on Windows.

Agree with Banjo - definitely download again. Perhaps use a download manager such as Orbit Downloader to improve the speed of the download and reduce the likelihood of a transmission ERROR (or at least make it QUICKER for you to download again).

Maybe also try downloading from a different mirror next time.kk thanks

/closedo/t: can anyone explain to me what "kk" stands for?  I've often wondered...no clue. I've heard rumours that "k" os a short form for O.K which is itself a short form of OKAY. So k itself is a shortened form of an acronym- the very epitome of laziness.

One might conclude, therefore, that performs kk is the same as when somebody says "Okay, Okay..."
psst ... I was being ironic ... psst
