Answer» Starting this morning, when I try to change websites from my homepage IE instantly closes. Im running XP with IE6 with Service Pack2. I downloaded and ran Microsoft Windows Defender from Microsoft and deleted all the crap and it still crashes. As soon as I SELECT the URL window with the mouse, or click the down arrow to visit history it crashes. Only way I can get to any sites is to change my homepage to google and google the site names. Now I've noticed I'm crashing Windows Explorer as well. I figure it was a virus, but nothing is being DETECTED. Any help? Before going through the scorched earth routine just give ccleaner & panda online scan a run. Let it delete all that it finds & take note (save) the things it doesn't remove. Being free it doesn't remove everything. http://www.ccleaner.com http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/activescan.htmcc cleaner crashes when its running after i downloaded it. and the panda one wont download saying something is preventing it from downloading its active controls... :-?Can you run ccleaner in safe mode? Try setting IE to the defaults to access Panda.

Kudos to Raptor.Ran cc in safe mode, worked and found more stuff. still cant run panda. problem not solved however...Did you reset IE to the defaults?yes i did.I am having the same problem. I just purchased my new COMPUTER about a month ago, its an HP a1310n. This 'crashing' problem doesn't happen too often, but it is really annoying. @ejplace: Carry out the procedures listed in this post and post a Hijackthis logfile here when done. If possible, zip the logfile and attach it rather than post it.
@Tigress61: Please start a new THREAD detailing your problems fully as otherwise, things could get very confusing for everyone.
