is it possible for your internet history to show web addresses that you did not go into? a friend has some web addresses he says he did not go into (not the kind of sites he would visit - if you know what i mean) showing on his internet history. Someone ELSE told him he could have a virus putting those sites on his COMPUTER. Is that possible? i don't know if he has virus protection or spyware protection, but I have advised him to get both.

ThanksYes a virus could do that and ADVISING him to get anti-virus and anti spyware was a very good idea.
I have to say though, I personally think the chance is HIGHER that someone actually did visit those sites. I'm not accusing your friend but just suggesting that he looks into who has access to his computer. If he indeed have no protection, someone could even have created a BACKDOOR on his computer and used it view said sites.I'd advise him to get Ccleaner Slim and use it after every online session.
