I'm having a problem opening my instant messengers and updating my virus. I have DSL so my internet connection is always on and I GO surfing on the net, but when I’m trying to start MSN or yahoo instant messenger or even update my virus, I get a message to check my internet connection. I’ve tried deleting my instant messengers completely from my computer and then down loading them from the site again but still get the same problem.

What am I doing wrong?
Maybe you already have a virus... Also, try repairing the connection by right-clickin on the connection in the internet options...

If your using Win Xp ....turn off your system restore ......
then reboot into safe mode and run the stinger program you made and saved to floppy on the other pc .

Once you have deleted what it finds , reboot back to normal and try to get your anti virus UPDATED ....and then run a full scan with your updated anti virus .

dl65 What is your isp.......aol?I have the same problem and that is why I was looking thru this site. I have DSL and I am told I am online, but about half the time I am told I need to dial up, check phone line connections, not connected etc. I am the second computer in the house on the DSL and the other one has no problem.I am getting same prob it shows i am conected to internet but go to home page n get a pop up saying not conected to net work OFFLINE or try to conect ,page can not be displayed . i called my isp m went threw lots of tests n came up with nothing wrong with conection (i have 2 computers 1 works great but out GRRRRR) any idea'sI have the same problem.....I even reformatted my computer.....shouldn't that have deleted the virus if i had one? I use dial-up(netscape) and i can go online but i can't view websites and connect to messengers
