Solve : Internet says "connected" but won't work..? |
|
Answer» OKAY, I'll try to give you as much information as I can about this.. I have a dell, windows vista. I spent a week in New York using a different network and the internet wouldn't work when I got back. A couple days before the internet problem, it also had this problem where it would start up and then go to a screen that said "Configuring Windows updates stage 3 0% complete" except it would NEVER go past this stage, it just kept shutting itself off and restarting and going back to that screen. I don't know what I did to fix it, I THINK I started it in safe mode or something.. When I open internet explorer, it says the usual "Internet Explorer cannot be dispalyed", but in the url bar it says something along the lines of "srch dealio..." . It doesn't work with the cable either.. The computer is a year old and has never had problems before I got back from my trip to New York. My uncle is a computer programmer, and when he tried to fix it, he said there could be a massive virus and I should reinstall the CD. However, I am a bit skeptical about this..I think he is jumping to conclusions and I wanna see if there's anything I could do short of reinstalling everything. Download Malwarebytes and SAS Run full SCANS and see what comes up you may also want to try AVG If you have no anti-virus software Can I download those if my internet is not working? Also, I do have Norton virus protection. Is it possible my computer has a virus if Norton never warned me about that?Ok go into control panel then classic view (left pane) device manager find network adapters right click on your wireless adapter and uninstall it. Restart your computer to automatically re-install. Then we will see from there.Alright, I will try that. However, are you sure it doesn't have anything to do with that dealio thing? I've been reading on the internet and people seem to be having similar problems with the dealio toolbar..If you have it then we can get RID of it by using SAS but you need to download it first. You obviously have a computer that can access the internet download off there then save the files to disk and transfer over to the infected computer. |
