Answer» Hey,
I remember games like Terminal Velocity very fondly, and I also liked Fury3 and Hellbender, though I must say I preferred Terminal Velocity's universe for some reason.
Anyway, enough about that, I've seen Hellbender and from what I can tell it seems to be a whole version upgrade of an engine like that of Fury3 and Terminal Velocity, hence the more in-depth environments, tunnel system ETC. It was able to do good INDOOR and outdoor areas in a level where Descent II, a competitor at the time, only did indoor LEVELS. Even if I know it's a dead genre on the PC these days, I would like to, at least someday, make an arcade space game like those three games and there would have to be some sort of engine out there that could be used to make a game like Hellbender but with different content, styling etc. If anything I'd think such a game would be easier to make, whether USING authorware or from scratch, than, say, an RTS.
So, is there any such authorware-software or engines for such out there that would work with a Windows 7 x64 environment? I've got ideas for the story as I'm an avid CREATIVE writer but the fact is that my creative writing alone isn't going to make the game itself a reality. So, is there any hints for authorware or engines? Freeware is preferred, though I might be open to a reasonably-priced option (US$200.00 maximum limit as that is about AU$200.00 - for me, very expensive and I'd need to consult my father - with less than US$50.00 being most reasonable given current exchange rates).
