Answer» Hello everyone,
i read the 'read this first message' and cicked on the two links in that message, but nothing happened, no links opened up for me. So my apologies if this subject has been covered.
I have a new computer running windows xp and ie 6 sp2. I don't have any spyware programs installed, but i did have norton internet security, but uninstalled it.
The first problem i have encountered is when i try to upload jpg files to internet sites that sell photographs, i am getting an error message something like.....' error the jpg file doesn't appear to be a jpg file', even though i KNOW the file is a jpg. I have tried deleting cookies and internet history.
The second problem i have encountered is when i click on a active link in my email, nothing happens, a browser window doesn't open. I have the same problem when i do a google SEARCH, if i set my preferences to open links in a new window nothing happens. Also as already mentioned the links in the 'read this first' message don't open for me either.
thanks all for listeningThe reason your emails wont allow the active links to be opened is security feature to stop you opening spam emails to get your personal details if it's a site where you have to log in.
Are you using Outlook express or MS Outlook?
Go to the site where the photos are, save one to your system and then try uploading it back to the site. Do you still get that error message?
Check your IE 6 security settings and the 'Advanced' settings in Tools - Internet Options to check if you have been blocked from doing this.upload to what server........Do you have some crazy toolbars installed? Thanks everyone for your comments,
i have managed to get my links working. I went to add/remove programs, selected ie6, clicked on the next button. Don't know what happened, but after that my links worked. I have outlook express.
I still can't upload my jpgs though. I've been trying to upload them to istockphoto and stockxpert. I never had any problems with my old pc. The error messages have only started since trying to upload using my new computer.

I think i maybe already doing this. I save my jpg illustratrion to my desktop, then login to one of the above mentioned sites, fill in the online form, select my jpg, click upload, then after a minute or so get the error message telling me that my jpg isn't a jpg. I also have the ENABLE third party extensions option selected in my ie6 security settings.
I don't have any crazy toolbars.
I hope you guys will be able to help me with this. I'm completely baffled, but then i'm not very techy minded.Just thought i'd let you guys know that i've installed firefox web browser and have managed to upload my files. I will contact microsoft about the problem with IE6.
thanks for all your comments and suggestionsI'm sure Microsoft will be very eager to help.
You're better off with Firefox for a lot of reasons.Empty your IE Temporary Internet Files & then give IE another try. What net connection have you got.dun etc.
