|
Answer» How do I get rid of lexplore that repeatedly starts running in my task manager. Ctrl/Alt/Delete. I will get a string of lexplore that bogs me down if I do not close them. Please GIVE me some advice on how to get this problem under control!!!!! thanks, rebeleyeDo you have antivirus and antispyware protection? [glb]Flame[/glb] Hi Flame, Yes, I have run spysweeper, cwshredder, ad-aware, spybot, hijack this, norton antivirus and spywareblaster. My system is clean except for an ocassional aboutblank (which cwshredder gets rid of-hiddendll) and the lexplore that slows me down the more that startup. I am running Windows 98 SE. I have done endless searches and attempts to be rid of it with no success, except the EDUCATION of the search. If you have any suggestions, I am waiting!!! Thanks, rebeleyeWhat about your registry? have you tried limiting the programs that execute when you logon to your computer? Also, have you scanned for registry errors? [glb]Flame[/glb] Flame, I'm a little scared when it comes to messing around with my registry. I have scanned the registry for errors, getting into regedit and could not find anything out of the ordinary. This was done using info from an item I got from a search from symanatec. I only have explorer running on startup but there are many programs on my startup page not checked. Thanks, rebeleyeWhen you say that they are not checked, that means that they are NOT EXECUTING at startup... right? Becuase on my registry cleaner, not being checked means that it IS running... Just checking... [glb]Flame[/glb] Flame, You are right in your assumption. They are not executing at startup, only explorer opens on startup. Later, gone for the night-work at 3:00 am tomorrow. Keep thinking! Thanks, rebeleye1 Ok i had this problem and the only way i found to fix this was to go into control panel Add/Remove programs. Add Remove Windows Components. 2 Take the tick out of internet explorer, Reboot your Computer. This will UNINSTALL it Temporarily. Once the computer has rebooted do the same thing as in section1 but put the tick back in internet explorer and reboot again. This will have now reinstalled Internet explorer. Well this works on windows xp and 2000 and hopfully 98 you see in xp you get the choice in window components to install and uninstall internet explorer. if not is there anyway you can download internet explorer and then uninstall the old one and replace it with the one you downloaded. Iike i said i had this problem and found no other way other then this to stop it. Good Luck let us no how you went on. |
