Solve : Linux??

Answer»

Hey,
Can anyone out here on the WORLD wide web help me to decide on the version of linux to download for my pc? I'm planning to mainly just use my pc for day to day web surfing and chatting on messenger ALONG with writing C and C++ which means I'll also need help getting a couple Compilers or one multi compiler for WHATEVER version of linux I end up goin with. But thats another story lol... I've got a P4 2.8ghz runnin @ 800mhz front side and 400mhz rear sporting 2 stix of 512mb 400mhz ddr and a navidia geforce 5700 fx. All on a Chaintech motherboard. If there is any other info you need feel free to drop a thread on here.... ThanksUbuntu would be my choice. SIMPLE install. Well supported. Lots of packages. Regularly updated. Very active distribution. Generally well configured. ALl the compilers you could ever need are in there, and then some. Not all are on the CD though; install and then do an internet update. The almighty GX1_Man showed me that Fendora is one of the best out there. That is the one I used, and it is very easy for me to C++ in, as I am just learning it.
