i am install the linux. PC Configration core duo+2 gb ram ddr2+160 gb hdd.At 1st i boot it from cd rom the pc should boot on linux red hat, in the dos mode it shown  P

THANKING YOUI suspect there's an issue with your BIOS that Red Hat is not liking.  What version of Red Hat is it?  Have you tried any live Linux CDs like Knoppix, Kanotix, Ubuntu Live, etc?no not kike that !If i start to install in another pc its ALSO same .

Again, what version of Red Hat are you trying to install?

Rob has suggested several versions of Live! CD which you can download and run from a CD, once you transfer the ISO image from the download file to a CD.  The advantage is, you don't have to ACTUALLY install anything on the computer for the purposes of testing the Linux version.  Then you can see if that PARTICULAR version of Linux will run on your system.  (It will run a little slower, since all functions are running from the CD.)

The version of Red Hat which you have may have an older kernel which may not support newer hardware.

I think I "said" most of that right, Rob.   Sounds fine to me Aegis, although you may say anything you like as far as I am concerned. 

To vinfo12: let us know if you need assistance with the VARIOUS steps involved in what we're suggesting - locating an ISO, burning it, etc.What I meant was, I've only used a few Live CD's, and wanted to make sure my advice was correct.

I've tried Linspire, Freespire, and Ubuntu.  I recommend Ubuntu, based on my limited experience, but also know that Knoppix and Mandriva are excellent choices to consider.
