Solve : Linux Mint Won't Load on Dell Vostro?

Answer»

I have a DELL Vostro with Windows 7. I also have a USB with Linux Mint and it works on other computers except the Dell Vostro. After setting the boot order to USB 1st, Linux boots up where I have to choose "Persistence Mint -17, 3 Cinnamon- X64"
Once I press enter and the text disappear and nothing happens. It computer is not FROZEN, but all I can do is shut down.

Any advice to my issue will be appreciated.
Thank you in advance. Id try the x86 distro and see if that works. Some systems have issues with the x64 and only work on the x86. Which CPU is in this Vostro and how much RAM do you have in it? Exact model number can be used if unsure. Vosto's came in both x86 and x64 CPUsI'm new to the Linux services. All I know is about the OS I have (Mint 17) since it was given to me to use on my laptop. Anyways, the Vostro 1015 uses 1GB ram and I BELIEVE it uses intel core 2.

What would be your professional recommendations to use a Linus OS on the Vostro?

Thank you.
With 1GB RAM, I'd still use Mint, but would GO with an x86 verson of it which requires less RAM to operate. Of the 1GB RAM, some of it could be shared with the GPU and so only say 896MB of 1024MB available to the system with integrated GPU using 128MB. There is also a LIGHTER version which is XFCE which runs well on systems with limited RAM.I've just tried your suggestion of the mint 32bit and to my surprise, it works. Smooth and fast.

Thank you again for your advice and time.Cool... Glad that fixed it
