Solve : modem & restart?

Answer»

Bought a new modem because I thought that was the problem, but it's still happening. After surfing for several minutes, I get a "no signal" light on the modem & can't surf any more. If I do a "Disk Cleanup" and restart, the modem comes back to life & I can surf again. Late at night, I can surf for hours with no problems but around 4 PM and Sunday afternoons, it starts the no service stuff.
I have Windows XP and a cable modem provided by SIGECOM.
Answers? Try powering off the computer, and then disconnecting powet to the modem for about 1 minute... Next, restore power back to the modem, and wait for about 30 seconds... Next, turn on your computer and see if you can use the internet... Have you contacted your ISP about this? Mayeb your phone line needs to be repaired?

Why do phone lines NEED to be operational for a cable modem?
Whoops! I meant the cable's cable... Makes no sense... lol Make sure that the CABLES required to run your cable internet are working properly, and are properly connected...

[glb]Flame[/glb]After I read your suggestion, I called the cable place. They "tested" my line and SAID there was a lot of "play" there & they're going to send out a repair guy. Hooray! Keep your fingers CROSSED that this solves my problem. I'm a home-based travel agent & if I don't have the internet, I'm doomed!

MaryI have a modem V90 internal ( 115,5 Kb)
Everytime I surf the net after 15 minutes "surfing" you can HEAR a "TOUT" from the system and it automatically disconnects!!! What can I do about it???

A "tout"? That's a hard sound for me to imagine... Are you sure it's coming from the computer and not your modem?
