Answer» Prepare for a new UI. Add-on bar has been removed, content moved to navigation bar Ridiculous! I was a little heated when I noticed the Add-on bar was removed. Not hidden but completely removed! Luckily there is an add-on to replace it. The Addon Bar (restored) If needed there is also a Classic Theme Restorer add-on.1) The new release also seems to have broken Status-4-Ever, eliminating the status bar again. I'm trying The Addon Bar to see how much status bar functionality it brings. 2) I like the reload and stop load icons outside (and to the right of) of the address window, but that doesn't seem possible anymore. 3) Back/Forward dropmarker seems to be disabled too Quote from: Allan on April 28, 2014, 04:07:51 PM I'm trying The Addon Bar to see how much status bar functionality it brings. I have never used Status-4-Ever but I got all of my add-on bar add-ons back. Good luck.https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/classicthemerestorer/ I was able to get a status bar of sorts by right-clicking and choosing customize on the main toolbar. I dragged a "Status Text" thingie to the bottom and I have a statusbar again. I was also able to grab the Reload and Stop buttons from that customize Menu and drag them in place next to the location bar. Hopefully that is what you are after, Allan. Classic theme Restorer brought me most of the way back to the interface I prefer. I had to tweak some of it's options to disable the Firefox button as well as disable showing Tabs in the Titlebar., but now it looks almost identical Actually I found the option: I was able to disable the button with Classic Theme Restorer, as well as disable showing Tabs in the Title Bar. Now I have it looking identical to Firefox 28. I just wonder who decides on these changes all the time... It's obviously NOT their User base... Quote from: patio on April 28, 2014, 06:33:11 PM I just wonder who decides on these changes all the time... 100% agreed. I am just grateful there are add-on devs who quickly fix the problems. Problems that shouldn't even exist. This release feels like Google Chrome. I don't use that browser partly because there is NO add-on bar! Some caveats I found: Display issues with Tabs. Traced it to something of a conflict between TabMixPlus and either the new theme or possibly Classic Theme Restorer, or perhaps both. Shame, I rather liked the plugin. Display issues manifested as highlights still having rounded tabs and weird shaded red boxes appearing on tabs. Disabling TabMixPlus appears to have fixed it. Perhaps that add-on will be updated in the future (assuming it has not yet updated). Otherwise it appears I was able to almost perfectly restore the previous appearance. Unfortunately for me it's pretty much between Firefox,IE, and Opera. Chrome is out completely because it doesn't support non-standard DPI displays, instead relying on Windows DPI virtualization which looks gross. My TabMixPlus text has been blurry for a while now so I just accepted that and now over look it. Everything else with TMP seems to be working fine for me. The TMP forums has nightly builds. I didn't look at the nightly changelog but they usually have fixes available sometimes well before the final version is released. You might check it out. http://tmp.garyr.netBCP - re your TWO posts above. First, thanks . Second, I love my Tab Mix Plus. If it conflicts with the Classic Theme Restorer, I think I'll pass on the latter. The theme I use is Firefox 3 which, except for the rounded tabs, gets me most of the way back to the old Firefox 3 theme I always liked. Oh, and I'm not crazy about the inability to put the address bar above the tabs in the new version. EDIT: Okay, I tried Classic Theme Restorer. Biggest issue is it breaks Colorful Tabs, which I've been using forever. I'm still playing around with getting this the way I want it, but I think Classic Theme Restorer won't work for me.Well, okay - I think I've got this thing kind of okay now. I'm using the FF 29 theme with Classic Theme Restorer and a bunch of tweaks as suggested by BCP and some I found on my own. So far, so good. Colorful Tabs and Tab Mix Plus both seem fine and tabs are below the address/navigation bar. Thanks again for the Classic Themes Restorer extension BCP I very much like that theme changes are instantaneous and do not require a restart I've never used FF sync but thought I'd give it a try. I created an account and in the verification email there is a "VERIFY" button that will send you to the verification link. Unfortunately, the link it tries to send me to is: http:// I've tried a couple of times and that's what I get - a non-link My verification link-email is similar to this. (I'm not posting the full link) Congratulations! [email protected], you're one click away from verifying your Firefox Account. https://api.accounts.firefox.com/v1/verify_email?uid=.........................=syncAnyone who wants to revert back to Firefox 28.0, I was able to find a path to the offline installer which is the full 28.0 Firefox install here: https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/28.0/win32/en-US/Firefox%20Setup%2028.0.exe *I found reference to an offline Firefox 22.0 installer and then edited the URL path manually to see if I changed 22 to 28 if I could get 28.0 and it worked. I just DOWNLOADED a copy of 28.0 in case 29.0 causes any unexpected problems with end users and web interface applications etc. While its not best to revert back to 28.0 for security reasons, if you have a problem with 29.0, at least this is the ticket back to 28.0. *** NOTE: To keep 28.0 from automatically upgrading to 29.0 I'd install this offline and while offline go to the browsers TOOLS -> Options -> Advanced -> Update -> And select "Check for updates, but let me choose whether to install them" or "Never Check for updates", then select [ OK ] to apply the config settings and restart browser and confirm that the config applied. Then you can connect the network cable or connect to wifi and hopefully the update wont happen automatically. Right now I am testing 29.0 on some systems and leaving 28.0 on others until I know that 29.0 wont cause any problems with end users. Really hoping that 29.0 doesn't break ad-block plus on my home system since I hate commercials every 5 minutes. (I'm not posting the full link) I've tried SEVERAL email accounts on two different computers and in ever instance I am sent: http:// No address - just a non-address. No big deal. |
