Solve : my favorites keep disappearing in ie7? |
Answer» I have a Toshiba laptop running Vista It has IE 7 & is doing strange things with the favorites. Using my main login account I cannot get Favorites to show up in IE. If I login as Guest they are their and can be add/deleted, but not using my main login. I have tried importing Favorites and IE says it all worked, but they still won't show up. If I look in the file directory there is a Favorites folder under the user NAME and it has all the files. in ie7 if i try to add a favorite it will not do anything, it does not give me any error messages or anything. i had this problem before for several weeks but it went away for a week or 2, now it is back. thanks gquilts Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools, click on Internet Explorer (no add-ons). Will it work? this is what is says, even if i close and restart it still will not open with add-ons is this the problem and how do i turn on add-ons, i thought they were on because when i visit a site that tells me it need an activeX i let it download. (from sites i trust) so where are they going? THANKS SO MUCH FOR THIS HELP!! , what do i do next? _____this is what comes up when i do what you said__________________ Internet Explorer is currently running without add-ons All Internet Explorer add-ons, such as ActiveX controls or toolbars, are turned off. Some webpages might not display correctly. To continue to your home page, click the Home button. To browse using add-ons, close Internet Explorer and then start it again. Quote _____this is what comes up when i do what you said__________________This is normal message. Do favorites show up in this mode?no i also tried to go into the manage add-ons, it says they are all enabled, ??i also forgot to tell you, it will not let me save a WEB page to the favorites menu- if that helps any? thanks soooo much for your ideas!! gquiltsAre you still talking about Internet Explorer (no add-ons) mode?no, in the no add-on mode you have to click on each file name to see if it is enabled, when i do that - (click an add-on file name)- then at the botton off the window the enable is selected. -- in the normal IE PROGRAM is where i went into the manage add-ons and it did the same as what i just explained in the IE no add-ons program. there was no difference. We have some misunderstanding here. Your original problem: favorites don't show up, when you log in to your main account, and use IE in Normal Mode. My question: being in your main account, if you start IE in no add-ons mode, are favorites still missing?sorry i had a very sick granddaughter and had to got to er and then been taking care of her.. wait i just tried it again and they do show up, before when i clicked on the IE no add-ons it was not opening a new web page window, but now it is and the favoritesare there!! i am having problems with this new computer and they TOLD me yesterday it had t go back to the warranty service because one of the graphices cards is not working and now it get hot-overheats and just goes dead everything turns off. i have to back up my files and take it back to best buy next week. it seems to be doing a lot of weird things. anyway how do i get my favorites to show when i RUN it in the normal mode?I'm sorry for your granddaughter. Is she OK? Since you're gonna take your computer for warranty repair, they may fix your IE as well, but meanwhile you can try this... Open IE normally, go Tools>Manage Add-ons>Enable or Disable Add-ons, and disable all add-ons. Restart IE. See, if bookmarks will show up. We'll go from there.Bookmarks = Favorites. Thanks |
