Answer» I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this or not, but here goes: I want to know how to get the link for a download.
i.e. when you click on a download, and the box pops up where you can choose to either save the file or open it. How do I get the url to just LEAD straight to that download box, instead of linking to the site where you download it?
I am currently using Firefox 2.0 thanks for the help.Try right-clicking on the link and SELECTING Copy Link LOCATION. That will give you the URL of the file. This can be a bit tricky sometimes, though. If you're not given that OPTION for whatever reason, you can use something like Free Download Manager. When it prompts you for a download, you'll be able to see the URL. It's not the best method, but it works.
If you plan on using this to hotlink files...that's a very big no-no.what's "hotlinking files"?In regards to forums and your own personal site...it's when you link directly to the file for people to download instead of linking to the page it's hosted on. It's frowned upon greatly, as it's considered "stealing bandwidth". Much along the same lines of posting someone's picture instead of hosting it yourself. No doubt, you should request permission to hotlink and not do it unless permission is GRANTED.
