Solve : no desk top after installing internet system? |

Answer» I have reciently INSTALLED an internet system on a different computer. I downloaded the information that the system said that I needed and now I can not get my desk top to come up. All I can get is a red blank screen. I do not know very much about computers so Im really at a stand still on what to do. Quote I have reciently installed an internet system on a different computer. I turned the system off as it requested and when it came back up all I have is a blank red screen. I still get the upload system when it COMES on and the windows 98 screen but it takes me to NOTHING. I do have system "virus" protection but couldnt tell you the name of it. It tells me that Explorer has performed an illegal operation and will shut down. I can not delete the program cause I can not get into the system. You can not delete Explorer.exe as it is part of Windows. People PC.com is an internet system that I have installed on three of my other computers without any problems UNTILL now. It installed just fine on the other systems and the only error I am getting with this system is that explorer is causing the problem. I downloaded the system just as I had done on the others only difference being the update of the files that the system did when installing the internet on the computer. I know that I can not delete the explorer system but I also can not delete the internet system either because I can not get to the desk top now. Quote ...Exactly what is this? Thanks for clearing that up. This must be what you are both speaking of. Can you boot into safe mode, Christine?I have tried the safe mode and it still continues to take me to the blank screen. I have been thr all of the options that the safe mode ASKS with no results as of yet. I do still have my screen saver coming up after the wait time but I no ability to access any files of any kind.looking thru microsoft forums i found that someone else has the same error message."crash any hope" under"microsoft windows". although her problem states under c:>win hemi is missing and ours is not our problem is the same error msg. is there any hope??? If you are allready familar with Microsoft.com, try looking for a way to replace system files with Windows 98. I believe this is possible, but I don't know how. Never used Windows 98 that extensively. |
