Solve : No Sound on Internet Video?

When playing a video online, I cannot hear sound. This happens at every website. What could be wrong?Anyone know why this could be happening?More info needed..
Windows version.
What browser? What version?
Can your computer play other then video sounds? Can you play music CD?I've got the same problem..
Sound works perfectly on Cd's, Itunes ect. But not on Internet browsers..

my Specs :
Amd athlon 64 5600+ x2 Processor.
ASUS M2NPV-MX AM2 Motherboard.
XFX 8800 GTS 320mb GPU.
2GB PC2, DDR2 5300 RAM
Windows xp home edition SP2..
Using IE explorer and Mozzila FF

And Welcome Aboard both of you !I am on Windows XP. I use internet explorer. I can play music in iTunes, including a music CD.

I know this can happen if you don't have the required decoders for the video type. You said at EVERY website...So I can't be SURE that's what it is, although I know that WILL do it. I know divx is a big one for me.. Every time I redo windows divx is PART of my "getting all my stuff downloaded again" process. What about youtube? becuase those are actually FLASH files I believe. (flv files) so that should work unless your flash player is buggy. Maybe you could try updating that. It's worth a shot..
