Answer» ok so i have 3 COMPUTERS hooked up to the internet it goes through a linksys router and splits to them all yea it did work and i dont think anytning has changed since it did work Well something has changed or it would still work. We just have to determine what that is. Quote my bro says it works in safe mode with networking Try it and see. Quote and a diagnostic says What diagnostic is this? Quote im not sure abbout the fire wall or anti virus but the other computers work so i dont think its the router but im not sure Do you have the Windows firewall enabled? Go to Control Panel and see. Is this XP? What version? WHat Service Pack? You don't know if you have an antivirus installed? What about some sort of spywarfe protection as well? Look around in Programs or ask your brother. If the machine is not clean all bets are off. Post back with your and your brother's findings. See below. Dr. Patio will be standing by as well if needed.I do not have Windows firewall enabled right now i had it enable b4. I disabled it to see if that was the problem b4 but it wasnt. This is a Xp. It has service pack 2. We have Norton antivirus 2006 installed.. We dont think we have a spyware protection. We have scanned the comptuer several times with norton but nothing has showed up. the diagnaustic when we open up internet explorer the screan says "internet explorer cannot display this web page" and there is a link to network DIAGNOSTICS for windows xp 1) Start by downloading Spybot (which is free), update it and then run that scan AND your antivirus in safe mode with system restore turned off. http://www.majorgeeks.com/download2471.html 2) Then try the free online scan at www.trendmicro.com 3) Then try this: 1. Start 2. Settings 3. Control Panel 4. Internet Options 5. Security tab 6. Reset all 4 security zones to Default 1. Start 2. Settings 3. Control Panel 4. Internet Options 5. Privacy 6. Restore 1 Default button 1. Start 2. Settings 3. Control Panel 4. Internet Options 5. Advanced 6. Restore 1 Default button You may need to do the following as well 1. Start 2. Settings 3. Control Panel 4. Internet Options 5. General tab 6. Remove cookies, temporary files and history [highlight]Kudos to Raptor[/highlight] Post back with the results. I downloaded and scan my system and came up with some registry stuff and succesfully removed them. I scan my computer at the site and nothing came up on the scan. I scaned with Norton and nothing came up. I Reset all Internet things. Nothing helped.Have you tried turning off the Norton firewall? Alan <>< |
