Solve : One particular site does not load in my browsers? |
|
Answer» Hello, I really hope I can get some help here. All of a sudden one site (sitesalary.com) is not loading in my browsers (IE6 and Firefox 3.0.7) Every other site loads up. Sitesalary.com was working fine too until Saturday but from Sunday it just stopped working....As I said I have no problem at all with any other site...... I have XP Professional. I hope someone can SOLVE this one. I am stumped.works for me. Has any one else done anything with your comp before it stopped using that site? Did you download anything before it stopped working? Is this just some clever way to advertise that site?Quote from: mroilfield on March 25, 2009, 08:18:19 PM works for me. No, I am not advertising this site at all. Not only this is a wrong place to advertise that site, but also there was no affiliate link. It was a sincere question. The site works. Last NIGHT I was at a friend's house and I tried it from her computer and it loads fine; hence my question... I have thought what I did that night on INTERNET and could not remember. The thing is that every other site loads fine..I am not having any problem with anything else either. I think I will install XP again and see what happens. You should be able to resolve this without resorting to that extreme measure. Checks your hosts file. See http://accs-net.com/hosts/what_is_hosts.html and http://accs-net.com/hosts/how_to_use_hosts.html. If your hosts file contains sitesalary.com, then remove edit the file to remove sitesalary.com from it. Rather than reinstalling, you may as well try a standards-compliant browser such as Opera. (Don't ask me what that means!)check whether you have any firewall software installed on your computer, especially norton which is known for blocking banking websites turn off all the firewall softwares. incase you are not sure where to find the settings then try "SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING". if the website is opening in the safe mode with networking then you can be sure that some THIRD party software is blocking it!Quote from: NotQuiteNovice on March 27, 2009, 11:03:50 AM Rather than reinstalling, you may as well try a standards-compliant browser such as Opera. (Don't ask me what that means!) I know what Opera is -- I had tried that too before posting my question...So I looked into the hosts file and it had only 127.0.0.1 localhost in it. I am running AVG (paid version) so I turned off the firewall, and even stopped AVG and still did not work.. But there is something else I found. When I connect to the site with another IP, I am fine. It loads up fine. I tried that last night from smarthide.com (not an advertisement) -- When I go to the site and use their anonymizer, I can browse the site... Is it possible that sitesalary serve is rejecting my ip?See, if you can access http:\\208.100.51.102 See, if you can access the site from Safe Mode with Networking.Quote from: Broni on March 27, 2009, 08:12:26 PM See, if you can access http:\\208.100.51.102 Broni, this works, so I am guessing name is not being resolved. So how do I go about fixing this? Is it something to do with DNS? Thanks..I did not think of typing ip address... Another thing -- Once I connect and get past the login page, the address switches back to sitesalary.com, but it works fine...Then I am not having any trouble...Quote from: masterjohn on March 28, 2009, 07:55:01 PM Broni, this works, so I am guessing name is not being resolved. In Command Prompt window, type in following commands, and hit Enter after each one: ipconfig /flushdns ipconfig /registerdns Restart computer.Broni, It works GREAT now!!! Thanks a bunch... I just saw you have 21819. *censored*! Thanks a lot man..It was driving me crazy...You're very welcome |
