Solve : Pale Moon?

            Just joined forum and HOPE you can help me.
I have PALE Moon as browser,and it has what it calls 'status bar'
at bottom of screen which is *censored* annoying,as it keeps popping
up every time I start to type search terms in my search engine (ixquick).
I've tried the view tab and unticked status bar,but it keeps coming back
to haunt me. If I cannot get RID of this bar,I will have to get new browser
as I cannot tolerate this,but HOPEFULLY one of you will race to the rescue
and I won't have to.
