Solve : PLEASE HELP! neither IE OR Firefox will work. ONLY Opera??!?

Answer»

Ok. So, Firefox & Internet Explorer DO NOT work. When I try using them, they say "unable to connect" & "Page cannot be displayed". But, Opera works just fine. My internet works fine. I can get on AIM & stuff like that. It's just those 2 browsers. Personally, I don't like IE anyways, but FIREFOX is my default browser & it won't work! IE stopped working a few months ago out of no where & I didn't think anything of it because I don't use it often. But, then out of no where, Firefox does the same thing. I've called my internet service provider (bellsouth) & they say "just use opera". I don't know what else to do. If someone knows anything or could help me out I'd GREATLY apperciate it!!

What a typical bull&&&&!!!

We need more info:
Windows version
IE, FF versions
Up to date with: antivirus, antispyware, Windows updates?I'm using Windows XP & have IE version 7 & Firefox version 2.0.0.7 & I have't had any recent pop ups for windows updates. I don't think I have a virus either. In IE, GO Tools>Internet Options>Advanced tab. Click on "Reset" button.
Go to Connections tab, click on LAN Setup, and make sure, it's set to Automatic.
Restart your computer, and see if it helps in IE case.
We'll go from there...Nope, STILL the same thing. Except, now it's saying "IE cannot display webpage" & before it said something like "unable to connect". Basically, same message just a different screen.Get TCP Optimizer from here: http://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php
Open it, put checkmark in "Optimal Setting". Click "Apply changes".
Restart computer.
What does it do?It'll check if your internet connection settings are correct, and it'll apply necessary changes.I did that & restarted my computer. It's still doing the same thing.Are you RUNNING a download accelerator by any chance ? ?No. Not that I know of. Are you running Google Web Accelerator?
If not, before I suggest clean Firefox reinstall (I'll give you specific instructions how to do it), I'd like to take a look at your HijackThis log.
Get it here: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download5554.html, and post its log at "Computer VIRUSES and Spyware". Post a LINK to this thread, there.
