Solve : Problems with Certain Websites?

Answer»

Well I use Firefox but i guess its pretty much the same question anyway... I have trouble connecting to certain sites, or when I do it has a lot of problems with loading pictures (sites such as myspace and facebook). I have ethernet on my MOTHERBOARD, and i KNOW its not a problem with the connection because on my other (much slower computer) it connects fine. I'm on a Linksys Router (not wireless) but that shouldnt be a problem. Any help is appreciated. Are you able to try a network card in this computer?  Could be that the onboard ethernet is jiggered.it'd be possible but my pci slots are all full so it would be a hassle. if theres another solution (or something else i could try prior to doing that) i'd want to try that first
thanksHas it always been this way? If not what has CHANGED or happened. How about some details on your system and operating system? Any spyware/virus protection in use?my computer is
DFI n4f-dagf
Athlon 64 +3700
1 gb ram
nVidia Geforce 6600GT with 128MB

so it shouldnt be a system problem...

i have AVG free version for virus protection and run ad-aware/spybot occassionally but they seem to find the same things every time
is there another solution to these? (i may have some virii and whatnot)
I would have thought that swapping over a PCI card temporarily would be the least hasslesome thing to do.  Just swap out a sound card temporarily.  Easier than running bandwidth tests and hardware diagnostics. Quote

Is this a consistent pattern?  Are there certain sites that absolutely will not display on this computer?  If so, take a look at your hosts file.  You can find it by doing a search for hosts; open it with Notepad.  See whether it shows the sites you cannot access.
I also had this problem, i know i say this alot but are you on AOL? If so try changing the MTU size in your router to 1400. This sorted it out for me, anyway hope this helps. Best of luck.

C}{r1$nah im not on aol, but maybe i'll try that with my router anyway.
its not that i can't access the websites, but on certain ones pictures wont load or it will take a very long time to navagate around it.myspace fully loads quite quickly for me & I'm on dialup, ping myspace & compare the reults.

Can you give some more details on the connecting problems & the picture problems?what often happens is it takes a very long to load pages (like personal pages) and a lot of the pictures don't appear or they show up as that little white box with the x in it... could this be a problem with my firewall or antivirus?ok so today i turned of my firewall breifly (its an nVidia firewall) and it was able to load all the pictures on these sites. but i dont wanna turn off my firewall... so if anyone knows of a free one thats good (dont wanna pay money) or a way to edit it so it will allow these that would help. thanksI use Sygate Version 5.5 Build 2710
http://207.33.111.31/spf/
It's free & I like it.
