Solve : Programming Firefox or any internet browser...? |
|
Answer» Can we add an additional program to an internet browser such as to block a site based on texts containing in the site? Hosts File...can you tell me in short what does it do?? I know that Host file method. You don't know the hosts file method...and didn't read the material. At least that's the impression i get. Not sure what other images on an adult site you would want to see...they are pretty much all adult so i doubt you can do that selectivelly...or at all...You would really be best to forget about just doing this in Firefox and doing it machine wide, otherwise people COULD get around the restrictions just by using a different browser. There are a bunch of different ways to block sites with varying levels of security so it really depends on how experienced the people you are trying to RESTRICT are with PCs The hosts file is an option but as you already said, this only lets you block certain websites, not based on categories. OpenDNS is a good option for this as it allows you to block sites that you specify or everything that falls into a certain predefined category, when using this you just need to make sure that the PERSON you are trying to block doesn't know how to or isn't able to (due to user account restrictions) change the system's DNS server.I didn't understand Camerongray about opendns. And for Patio, I want to block all female pictures whether its a adult or not. And the remaining pictures such as trees, cars etc. stays. So, there may be a procedure to program the browser to block all female pics. But on other hand I understand that program cannot scan the pic whether it is a females or other, So, the Host file method is suitable for blocking ADS , adults, but it does not block all female pics. Any how this method is preferable. My short answer would be that you cannot accomplish what you want to do... Not in any way i'm aware of. The photos displayed on a web page are put there by whoever developed or maintains the website, and they can name the picture files any name. So, I'm puzzled how you could even get such a NOTION in your head. Quote from: IPDO on February 09, 2014, 12:19:27 AM I want to block all female pictures whether its a adult or not. Why? Quote I want to block all female pictures whether its a adult or not. While I can't see any reason for doing this, what you want is impossible - Your computer cannot tell what a picture contains. |
