Answer» I TRIED to install UBUNTU Linux on an old computer to try Linux out and see if i liked it and it CAME up with "Unable to locate RSDP". I have no IDEA what this means? Any suggestions what to try please? How did you format your hard drive? FAT32, Reiser, ext2, ext3? Try installing again and format as ext3. How did you partition your hard drive? Did you Google "unable to locate rsdp"? Thanks. Stupid of me, should have Googled! I found: "How old is the PC? Does it support ACPI? Even if it does, I've found it to be a bit variable - I have one PC which will run with ACPI enabled under some distros (Ubuntu, Knopix - both Debian based) but not under Mandrake or SuSE (haven't tried FEDORA on that one). Try adding acpi=off to the kernel boot parameters and see if it boots OK."
