I have run my anti-virus software, and anti-spyware to no avail. Explorer will not open on my profile, although it will on my wifes. I have installed Firefox and it works fine, but I would still prefer to use Explorer. Any ideas?tenerifepaul........So you and you wife each have user accounts on the same pc ........and hers works fine and yours won't open IE ......is that correct ? What operating system are you using and what version of IE ? Have you added any software recently ...?

Thanks for the prompt response.
My wife and I both have user accounts on the same PC. Yes.
Explorer works fine on her account but mine will not open IE. Correct.
In am using XP, and IE 6.
I do not remember installing any software around the time this error first started.tenerifepaul..... Do both you and your wife have admin privledges on you user accounts?
This condition just started out of the blue ?
Have you checked for trojans ? .....A good program to try would be Ewido security suite ......( 14 day free trial ) fully functional .

Dowloaded Ewido. It found some spyware, nothing I would consider too serious, and cleaned it all.
No difference. IE still wont open!
Yes the condition did just start 'out of the blue'! I know that seems unlikely but thats pretty much what happened. ONE day it WORKED the next day it didn't!!!!
Next?Still trying to find a solution to this problem. Have USED explorer in my wifes profile to use windows malicious software removal tool. No malicious software. Not suprising since auto updates is running continuously along with anti virus and spyware.
For anyone who is interested I found the solution on another forum. Uninstall google desktop toolbar. That solves the problem immediately. I have since reinstalled it, and IE is working fine. Unfortunately none of my games will work now...................a totally unrelated issue! All of those toolbar "enhanacements" are a bad choice in my opinion. Some are downright dangerous.
Thanks for the FEEDBACK tenerifepaul, it will help others along the way. I've been using the Google toolbar for some time now & never had a problem with it.
